Black Daniels (IXL Noble Express+ x Victoria Bey by Huckleberry Bey), owned by Landon Equestrian LLC and bred by RO Leverick Arabians, is a standout in the Arabian show world. Managed by LEQ and trained by Lowe Show Horse Centre for his final competitive year, Black Daniels has earned titles such as U.S. National Champion/Reserve National Champion and Scottsdale Champion/Reserve Champion in Arabian English Pleasure Junior Horse, Arabian Park Horse, and Arabian Pleasure Driving.
Despite his stellar achievements, Black Daniels' show career has been marked by inconsistency. He was started late, and after claiming the Arabian English Pleasure Junior Horse title in 2010, he was sidelined for nearly a decade. At the age of 15, he made a triumphant return to the show ring, securing Reserve National Champion in Arabian Park Horse at the 2020 U.S. Nationals. In 2023, at 18, he once again claimed Reserve National Champion in Arabian Park Horse and placed Top Ten (3rd) in Arabian Pleasure Driving. Remarkably, Black Daniels has only competed in nine shows throughout his lifetime.
Sired by IXL Noble Express+, a U.S. National Champion and Top 10 AEPA leading sire, Black Daniels boasts a powerful pedigree. His dam, Victoria Bey, has produced multiple National and Regional winners, further enhancing his lineage. Notable ancestors in his pedigree include MHR Nobility, Raffon, Bask, Bay-Abi, El Ghazi, Nureddin II, and Mesaoud, representing a rich blend of Crabbet, Polish, and Egyptian bloodlines.
Physically, Black Daniels stands out not only for his rare jet-black coat but also for his exceptional conformation. He is known for his long, elegant neck that allows him to naturally bridle up, as well as his straight, long legs, well-angled shoulder, and a strong, rounded hind end that enables him to perform with remarkable ease. His low-set, curvy hocks are among his most distinguishing features, allowing him to effortlessly drop his hind end (and keep it there) during training and showing, often regarded as some of the best in modern Arabian Saddleseat horses—a trait he reliably passes on to his offspring.
Another remarkable aspect of Black Daniels is his ability to produce black foals, with nearly 25% of his progeny sharing his striking color. Though he is on the smaller side for an Arabian, he commands an impressive presence in the arena, often described as "growing ten feet" when he enters the ring.
Some of his unique physical traits include his massive eyes, delicately dished face, and his "hooky" neck. His exceptional build and distinctive features, combined with his rare coloring, make him unforgettable in any ring he enters.
Black Daniels has garnered a reputation among trainers and breeders for his “hot” behavior, but since coming under the care of Landon Equestrian LLC, we've uncovered the true source of his energy. Rather than being difficult, he is fiercely driven and craves a purpose. He is one of the most motivated and expressive horses we've ever worked with. Black Daniels isn't content with minimal effort or a sedentary lifestyle confined to a stall—he thrives when given a job and pours his maximum effort into every training session. On the ground, he is a very kind horse and appreciates cuddles and kisses in his stall.
His tireless work ethic has earned our deep respect, and he inspires us daily to match his level of discipline and determination. While he shows excitement during breeding, he is always well-mannered and never aggressive. Around other horses, he behaves like a gentleman, and under saddle, he is a workhorse—eager and compliant with every request we make.
Black Daniels' dedication to his work is exceptional, and his intense desire to perform has made him a standout not just in competition, but in everyday training as well. He exemplifies a workaholic mentality, always striving to give more, and he has become a source of inspiration for our team.
Black Daniels is a proven sire with an outstanding record of consistently producing National Champion offspring that exhibit the same remarkable qualities he possesses. His progeny include some of the most distinguished horses in the Arabian show world, such as Multi National Champions The War Horse, Afirey Fireball VM, Bayonce, Afirey Brandy VM, RC Iron Man, Countess De Black, and SR Cracklin Thunder. Notable Scottsdale Champion ROL Ascension, Region 12 Champion CF Full of Ghrace, and National Champion Black Label VH are also among his most successful offspring.
His influence as a sire extends beyond these names—he has produced nearly countless National, Regional, and Scottsdale Champions. Each year, his legacy grows stronger as more of his offspring rise to the top, making him one of the most consistent and reliable National Champion sires in the industry.
As far as genetics, health and fertility, BD has kept remarkable health through his career until his recent retirement at age 19. He is negative for SCID, CA, LFS and OOAM, and is heterozygous for Black and Red, a black carrier, and capable of producing dorsal stripes and leg stripes on his foals. (E/e, a/a, nd1/nd2.)
